Hi I am a bit miffed on why this is happening.
I am following the Sysimport scripts doco to the T and every time I seem to get double ups of hosts and services entry in the CCM. One of them is Active with all the relevant descriptions and data relationships. The other is inactive and out of sync.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening.
Also if there's a better way to migrate from 2.7 to NagiosXi I would love to know.
Thanks.
Rob

Is the import itself failing, or are you just getting duplicate entries for hosts in the CCM?

Re: Duplicate entries after import of configs from 2.7 to Xi
I am having no errors anyway through the import documentation.
It writes out all configs without any trouble.
Import is reporting no errors upon the checking of the config.
Seeing duplicates of Hosts and services in CCM.

Bear with me if you've looked through these docs already, but I want to make sure the bases are covered. This has all our documentation on how to prep and correctly import from Nagios core. If you've done all these already, then we'll see what we can figure out.

Are you getting errors when you Apply Configuration because of the duplicates?

Hey Mate,
Thanks for your reply. I am using the prep config tool and following the import document. There are no errors for duplicates when applying the configuration.
One thing that is interesting is that The config works fine when using it in the static config directory. Unfortunately We would like to have this config managed inside of NagiosQL.
Thanks for the help.

I recommend migrating the scripts into NagiosQL in stages. Use the prep tool following the documentation.
One thing to note about importing is that anything that is placed inside of the "/usr/local/nagios/etc/import" directory will be imported by NagiosQL each time a configuration is applied in the CCM. There has been some confusion about that in the past.

Re: Duplicate entries after import of configs from 2.7 to Xi
Hi,
I did a full reinstall of NagiosXi 1.3G.
I have followed the prep tool to the letter and also did the Import in stages. Still I have the same result.
I can also confirm that I am seeing duplicates of other configs also. the contacts, Contactgroups and other items.
Do you know any way to increase verbosity of logs for NagiosQL in order to work out what sql calls it's doing?
Would like to get to the bottom of this as an upgrade project deadline is at stake.
Thanks Mate
Rob

The items that you've imported into NagiosQL, do you still have their original configurations in the static directory when you restart Nagios?

No, I remove them one by one after I import them.
The issue is not that they show up in Nagios as duplicates. Only in the CCM.
This is what I see in CCM.
as you can see some of the hosts that were not active are now active and with more details.

Re: Duplicate entries after import of configs from 2.7 to Xi
I have been doing quite a bit of digging around today and have noted several things.
It seems that the configuration tool we were using in our previous installation export configuration that is acceptable by Nagios, but not by the NagiosQL Import tool.
When something is comma delimited it adds additional entries that are duplicated with a space at the front.
Not sure how you wish to tackle this one.
We might need to get you to take a look at some of our configuration files.
Let me know.
Thanks
Rob
