Nagios Generating False Alerts(Due to Client Service down)

Hi,

Due to Nagios Client service which was stopped unexpectedly, there was server generated multiple tickets(false alerts) and there is no fault in server. Need guidance/assistance/steps here to generate a single ticket(This should have been treated as a single incident).

Please share your valuable inputs.

Probably the best alternative to resolve this would be to use check_tcp to check the remote agents port and verify it is responding. opposed to just checking ping, which is likely happening now.
