on the Quickstart Ubuntu Guide there is a mentioned requirement for the
gd libs like:
"sudo apt-get install libgd2-dev"
on an actual Ubuntu 7.10 it should looks like this:
"sudo apt-get install libgd2-noxpm-dev"
perhaps the package "libgd2-noxpm" is necessary too.
