Adding Optical Network Devices (ONS)

Post by atlantic »

Good afternoon everyone,

Is there a 'Monitoring Wizard' available to adding optical network equipment to Nagios XI for monitoring?

Do you know the 'Generic Network Devices"?

Thanks for you assistance in this matters.

Not at this time. As of yet we haven't had any requests for that particular wizard.

Can you clarify what you're asking on this? The generic network device wizard just runs a simple ping check against an ip address.

I apologize as my follow-up question got truncated and was therefor vague.

What I meant to ask was this, in lieu of a 'Configuration Wizard'/'Monitoring Wizard' specifically for optical network equipment (ONS), what method would you recommend that adding optical network equipment to be monitored by Nagios XI. We have already loaded the Cisco Optical MIBs, and are able to generate meaningful alerts via Nagios XI on our Test ONS shelf. Moving forward, I want to use the best method/practice in adding "production" optical network equipment.

Thanks,

Mark

Anything that is available via SNMP can be set up using the SNMP wizard.
