HI
we are currently monitoring all ports on our Cisco Switches, however when we unplug a machine (Decommission) we get an alert saying the ports down.
How do we unplug clients for the switches without generating the alert.
Thank You

Re: Cisco port DOWN
You can disable notifications for that specific port's service in Nagios XI, that is how you would disable alerts.
Re: Cisco port DOWN
So you can disable notifications, but what about the status down? Are you able to clear that alert too until something is plugged back into that port? Basically, you have a bunch of ports that aren't being used, but later you plan on connecting something to it. I didn't want to delete the ports not used, and add them later.

Re: Cisco port DOWN
You could effectively disable the service until something is plugged in or disable active checks on it, this will stop Nagios from checking that service. Another possibility would be using the negate plugin:
