Email check test

Post by BanditBBS »

Had someone ask me an interesting question today that I just can't think of the best method.

Once every x minutes we want to make sure we receive a specific email. If the email fails to arrive, then alert the team.

What's the best method to do this?

Do these email contain specific subjects that you can check for or you will need to search the body for keywords, etc.? There are some plugins on the Nagios Exchange that would check emails, matching given subject.

I modified my email acknowledging script to also do what I wanted here. Check for message with specific subject and then delete the message(s) if found. It uses IMAP with NTLM Authentication in case anyone else wants it...it can be found here: http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Pl ... rb/details
