No check time period defined!

Post by plasma50 »

Running Nagios XI 2009R1.1G. The event log is giving me a number of these messages:

[03-23-2010 16:15:30] Warning: Service 'check_disk_usr' on host 'hostxxx' has no check time period defined!

All warnings are for services that were manually defined and not defined with the wizard. They are Linux boxes using NRPE.

If I understand it correctly, in Core Config Manager -> Service Management, the Notification period is what should be defined. Is that correct?
Attached is a screen scrape of one of the services which shows the Notification period to be 24x7.

Not sure what the log message is telling me....

Check time period would be located on the previous Tab this is Notifications, not Checks.

mmestnik,

I understand now where the "check time period" is defined, under the Check Settings tab... It's called "Check period", correct?

It says it is required but all services for all of my devices "hundreds", have nothing in the Check period space, and all appear to work correctly except those that were manually defined without the wizard. They are the only ones that are complaining in the logs....

Should there be something displaying in the Check period* window of all services because it is required or is the blank line a default of sorts?

any ideas???

I wonder why I missed your reply, this is the second time this has happened to me.

Nagios uses a hierarchal template structure, so you these should all be blank.

See Object Inheritance.

Your problem is likely that you didn't choose the correct template. Try to match more exactly what the Wizard does.
