Well I guess I don't see the harm in publishing this here. Ethan was most likely going to publish this as part of Nagios Exchange, so this definitely should be considered an Alpha pre-release. Not fit for production use, development only.
Hi Mike -

I'd like you to test out the new Linux server wizard I created and see
what you think. It'll also give you an idea of what an XI wizard looks
like.

You can upload the attached zip file in the "Admin -> Manage Config
Wizards" menu and a new wizard will be added to Nagios XI. You have to
be running XI 2009R1.1D or later to get this to work.

The wizard requires an agent be installed on the remote Linux box.
Currently the agent would only work on RHEL/CentOS/Fedora systems, as it
uses yum. The installation instructions (including download location)
for the agent can be found in the attached PDF document.

FYI, another wizard I just created can be downloaded at the URL below.
Its another example of how to write and package a wizard:

Thanks very much for posting.

However any configuration wizard I try to upload fails. I have tried esensors-websensor.zip, dhcp.zip and linux-server.zip on versions 2009R1.1F and 2009R1.1G.

Keen to get a resolution on this so I can progress the custom wizards I am working on:
  • VMware Virtualization Kit, monitor ESX or vSphere hosts connected to a vCenter server, monitor Windows guest running on VMware Virtualization using Permon counters built into VMware Tools
    Dell OpenManage Wizard
And plan to create an APC UPS wizard next.

I can confirm that this works in version 2009R1.1H.

I was able to successfully upload my custom configuration wizard and it works fine.

I have uploaded my custom Dell OpenManage configuration wizard to the Nagios Exchange (pending approval).
