network with 2000 hosts

Post by cskang »

I have a network that has about 2000 hosts.
I need to update the state of 2000 hosts in every 10 minute interval.
That means that NagiosXI will need to perform 3.3 checks (on average) per second.

Is there an upper bound limit how many checks per second that NagiosXI can perform?
Or, does the upper bound depend only on the performance of hardware platform (e.g. CPU, memory, disk) that NagiosXI is running on?

It's pretty much just the hardware, although there are various settings and configurations you can mess with in Nagios to increase what it can do on any particular hardware.
