A few questions i like to have answered

Post by perius »

This is just a few questions I liked to have answered. The questions mostly from the company I work for. And I have not the time to envesticate them because im quiting soon.

1) Conserning SNMP
Does the part with SNMP support polling and traps?
Can it alert on trafficlevels and keywords?

2. Conserning Proxy
If I have one monitoringserver in a nother geographic location. Can the servers send information to a main central nagiosxi monitoringserver?

3) Is it posible to managed the looks of the dashboard to have animating coolors.
Ex: A color on the left being green if anything is allright and red for warnings, yellow- critical. And icons.
In general, a different lock then nagiosxi has now.

Polling is easy. Traps are a bit trickier right at the moment, but we have stuff working its way down the pipe to make these super-simple as well. (It's possible right now, just not terribly convenient.)

I'm not sure about the others at this time - will have to look into it.

That's correct, currently polling is the most widely used and has full flexibility to alert and graph ect ect. Traps have been usable for ages, but it's not vary popular ATM. However we do have documentation and a test case to make configuring Traps simple.

That's correct, there is full support for what we call Distributed monitoring as well as Redundant monitoring.

This is also possible, I'm a big fan of replacing the shovel and tool icon that indicates the problem is being worked on with a Thumbs UP to indicate a slightly more elegant "We have this under control."

The down-loadable VMs some times need to be upgraded to the latest version. This will activate more features. Current version is 1.1H and they are found here:
http://library.nagios.com/library/produ ... downloads/

The biggest difference from the trial to the licensed is the support, but you are correct the 60day thing is also handy to have removed. Other then all the other benefits of paying for the other techs and I to help feed these forums the software is not changed. There is Email support available with a reply guarantee.

Please help, I need to pay this assessment to my condo association!!!
