Few things before I buy

Post by elarkin »

I downloaded and tested out XI VM and its very very nice so far, i used to a manual install of the free version and this just blows it away, however I was surprised not to see a linux host in the configuration wizard.

here are my questions
Are there configurations for the config wizard for:
VMWare ESX
Linux machines
http"s" under website monitoring.
Exchange

As for linux monitoring I have written an install script for the NRPE client for RHEL and then an add host script on the nagios box, would this remain the same if there is no wizard for linux?

Thanks

We may track ESX monitoring here.

There is a Linux Wizard floating around and this is something we consider part of the product. I can only guess the reason it's not included by default, perhaps as a demonstration to show new users how Configuration Wizards work better. There seams to be a problem in 1.1G, but this should work in previous versions.

HTTPS is supported, it's perhaps not intuitively obvious. When you turn on Certificate monitoring you should get the HTTPS features.

Exchange may not have a Wizard any time soon, but there are a handful of form posts that describe how to set this up.

As for a host add script I'm not sure how this would function, local configuration changes will be lost. You can use the configuration importer and or the Core Configuration Manager.
