Are there specials configurations on your system, ie; is Gnome installed? Are you using a proxy? Are you using SSL?

Lets first see if the plugin you are using will allow you to do this, please link to the download page of this plugin, or upload it here, there are many check_mem plugins out there.

Did you install the NRPE package, or xi agent package on the remote host? Can you share the commands section of your nrpe.cfg file from that system please?
