IP Address Monitoring

Post by manchesterbazza »

Good Afternoon

Please bear with me as Nagios is relatively new to me and i would hopefully over time be able to understand it a little more.

My first question is we use Nagios Core v 1.2.3 and i was wondering if there is a set way in which i could list some network devices (switches, printers etc) with a hostname and ip address and allow nagios to go off and ping each one every x mins and report back green online red offline etc.

I notice some users have scripts that do similar things but i was hoping for an easy list to complete with this being my first snapshot of nagios network monitoring

i.e Device A 10.2.3.4 OK
Device B 10.2.3.5 DOWN etc

If there are any straightforward instructions on doing such things, your advice would be gratefully received or advice on how to install scripts already on this site

Yes, this is as simple as just adding a new host with it's network address. I would highly recommend that you take a look at this documentation as it provides some great examples and explanations:
