Notification based on service state

Post by toleolu »

Is there a way I can set up a hosts/services to notify one contact or group on Warning Alerts and a different contact or group on Critical Alerts.

Example:

Help Desk gets notified on all warning alerts, but primary support contact gets notified on all critical alerts.

One way of doing it, would be to create two contact groups. The members of Group A would only receive warnings, and the members of Group B would only receive criticals. (Notification options can be set for each user/contact).

You can also create two separate checks for warnings/criticals but this would be not suitable for large environments.

You can also try to use service escalations. Set up one for warnings and one for criticals, and assign different contactgroups to each one. I haven't tried this one personally, but it should work. Let us know if you have any more questions.
