Nagios server move to new domain/IP address

Post by nanz28v »

We have one Nagios server sitting in our test domain and we plan to move it to our production network soon. This requires a change of IP address. My question is do we need to reinstall or reconfigure anything on the monitored servers to accomodate this change?

You should only need to change to the new address in Admin > System Configuration. Additionally, if you are currently sending traps, passive checks, or running active checks to remote hosts, they all need to be configured for the new address so they route properly to XI.

Thank you. Is there an easy way to reconfigure all existing clients to connect to the new IP address? This is likely to happen if we want to use another IP address for any reasons.

Well, if they were for instance, nrpe clients deployed using a puppet or chef recipe then that could be altered, there is nothing from Nagios XI itself that can currently do this, but we are working on automated deploy options for a future release.
