NSCA Errors is syslog

Post by vhoover »

I am getting a bunch of errors is /var/log/messages:

Mar 12 13:24:53 nagios-test abrt[6856]: Not dumping repeating crash in '/usr/local/nagios/libexec/send_nsca'

Mar 12 13:25:32 nagios-test abrtd: Corrupted or bad directory /var/spool/abrt/ccpp-2014-03-12-13:25:32-8542, deleting
Mar 12 13:25:32 nagios-test kernel: send_nsca[8551]: segfault at 7fffc3cdd000 ip 0000000000401c48 sp 00007fffc3cd7b30 error 6 in send_nsca[400000+5000]

Out side of the obvious that something with the send_nsca or nsca is broke, can someone tell me what this means and how to fix it?
I am running a CentOS 6.5 (official VM) with Nagios XI version 2012R2.5 with a plan to update (upgrade) to 2.9 later this month.

What is the nsca version that you are running? I believe this was a bug that was fixed in nsca ver. 2.8.

Upgrade XI to 2.9 and see if this is going to fix your issue.

Hm-m, the nsca seems to be up to date. I would recommend upgrading to 2.9 anyway though. If the problem persists, go to: Admin->System Profile->Download Profile, save and email the "profile.zip" to [email protected].

I did upgrade (re-install) nsca but that did not seem to fix the problem. So I have emailed the system profile to the email address you gave me.

I don't think we got the profile. Can you send it to [email protected]? I'll share it with the team.

I just resent it to [email protected] this morning. Yesterday it got kicked back because my account was not associated to my company's customer number and enterprise key.

Sounds good, you should be added to your company's list now.

I am, I contacted sales and they added me yesterday. I got the confirmation about 2:18 MDT with a "should be active in 45 minutes" note. Thank you for the quick followup.

Great, we got your ticket submission, in the future please provide a little bit more information when you open a ticket, at least linking back to a thread we were working on with you. The tech who gets the ticket may not have seen your issue on the forums yet.
