[SOLVED] Auto-discovery component not working

Post by cwscribner »

Hi all.

I recently ran a test with the auto-discovery component that yielded no results on a network that definitely has monitorable devices. Any ideas why that may be?

Notes: The network IP was 172.22.157.0/24 and there's a mixed array of devices (routers, PCs, switches, UPSs, etc.)

Yeah there was a bug when the Auto-Discovery wizard was trying to "Auto-Discover" a different subnet. Attached to this post is a beta version of the update auto-discovery wizard. Give it a shot, let me know how it works.

Is that download for the component or the wizard? I tried uploading it in the "Manage Config Wizards" screen but now the list of wizards isn't showing up...where would I locate the file that I have to delete?

That was very unclear on my part, thats the component. You shouldn't need to reinstall the wizard though.

Got it figured out. Works pretty well...is there any way to make a feature request? I don't see a way to filter the discovery results to so I can select only servers or only UPSs, etc. The autodiscovery is being done on a group of networks with several thousand PCs which don't need to be monitored so I need a way to filter them out of the autodiscovery. Check boxes next to the results would be nice...

Thoughts?

That's a very cool idea and makes a lot of sense. You can post that to our tracker as a feature request:

How can I log a bug about the bug tracker? Haha. I tried to sign up but I was never sent a password and when I click the "Forgot" link, it says I'm not registered. Rock and a hard place...

Grr...we've had that issue in the past with the activation emails, I'll pass the word along.

In the meantime, I posted the feature request for you:
