Is it possible to have a dashlet that has a hostgroup of a hostgroup? Right now they show the lowest level (Hosts) from any Hostgroup.
For example I created a tree --- Platforms / Security / Host and I would like to see only the Security Green/Red at the Platform level, not the actual Hosts.

Right now, the way that the host group dashlets work is they will display all of the hosts, in each host group assigned to another host group, they will not show Hostgroup > Hostgroup > Hosts.

Not really, but the feature was never really on the radar. Open a feature request at: http://tracker.nagios.com !
