Integration with Nagios XI

Post by MSPk »

Hi Team,

We are currently using a monitoring solution with 3 nagios XI instances integrated with fusion to provide us a central dashbaord, We are now looking for a centralized management console which will help us in managing the configuration and performance data from the central server instead of having to do the configuration changes on the individual nagios xi instances. Do we have any product which can help us achieve this?

Also, we are evaluating another monitoring solution to use as a central management console. Please suggest if we can install this solution on top of Nagios XI.

At this point, we have not released a central management system like fusion for managing configurations on multiple XI systems. You should not install this other solution on top of nagios, as their product is expecting to manage only their systems and not nagios systems. We would also not be able to support anything on those systems any longer. You might look into using puppet or chef, or syncing databases between systems if that is something you are interested in.
Nagios-Plugins maintainer exclusively, unless you have other C language bugs with open-source nagios projects, then I am happy to help! Please pm or use other communication to alert me to issues as I no longer track the forum.

Hi Team,

I have come across the add-on DNX in the distributed montoring solutions document in admin guide and trying to understand if this can address the issue with centralised console that we are looking for (i.e. help use in maintaining the configurations in a centralized server and push it to individual nagios instances during host/service configurations).

DNX is not likely something you want to implement, as it is long out of date and no longer maintained to my knowledge. Also it is more of a mod_gearman style distributed check system, not configuration.

When can we expect to have this feature of managing configuration on individual Nagios XI instances through Nagios Fusion.

I'm not sure if this is even on the books, as any software provider can tell you, it's never good to give a hard feature inclusion date, especially if it is not even planned yet. I'll have a look through the Fusion feature requests, but we won't be able to give you a definite or likely even a ballpark time. I believe sreinhardt was just using Fusion as an example.
