AD integration

When the latest version of XI was released, mention was made for LDAP/AD authentication.

Where do you configure this? Is it built in, or is a pluggin required?

This is a separate component located here. After downloading it, you can install it in the XI web interface by going to Admin->Manage Components, and then uploading the zip file.

It looks as if that pluggin has been around for a while, as it is compatible with a 2009 release of XI.

At the bottom of this page it lists LDAP/AD as a new feature of the latest 2011 release.

I took that to mean that it is supported as a new feature of XI. Is the same, older AD plugin still required?

Then what's new? Why was LDAP/AD listed as a new feature of the latest release?

I'm ok installing the plugin, but it just doesn't make sense.
