Nagios Agent for Solaris 5.9

Dear Nagios Experts,

I had an installation error when trying to install Solaris NRPE agent on our Solaris 5.9 box.
It turned out that this particular platform is not supported by the NRPE agent.

My understanding based on my Internet search, in the event where NRPE agent is not available/can't be installed, we can make use of SNMP approach to monitor Solaris 5.9.
However, till date I can't seem to find a complete guide for the installation/configuration of SNMP on Solaris 5.9.

You advice is highly appreciated.

SNMP configuration will require net-snmp ans net-snmp-utils. OpenCSW usually has a good selection of GNU packages for Solaris boxes. Just a warning: Solaris 9 (5.9) is technically at end of life (EOL) this October. It is 12 years old this summer and many of these GNU package repos may start to deprecate the packages and cease updating them.
