snmpt traps

Hi folks,

Out of curiosity, has anybody setup SNMP traps for nagios via remote trap receiver. Due to our business model it would make life simpler to have traps go to a our public cloud and have nagios server pull snmp traps from that remote server.

I would appreciate any information on how to set this up.

While I don't know of anyone doing this personally, there is no reason that it could not be done. Do you presently have another system receiving traps from external locations and collecting them in one place? If so is that what you would like to have forward to nagios or nagios to check? Personally I think it would be best if that device could send to nagios, this way traps are still asynchronous and immediate instead of waiting for a nagios check to see if there are new ones, but this may not be a big worry for you.
