I'm not sure what the best way to establish the relationship between a contact and a contactgroup is. My nagios environment has been managed by multiple folks and each had there on method. I'm trying to clean it up and make it more consistent but I want to make sure I'm doing it in a manner that is best for our configuration.
If I understand it right there are at least two ways to make the relationship:
1. Edit the contact and add the group to it.
2. Edit the contactgroup and add the contact to it.
Please bear in mind that I'm still fairly new to Nagios. If there are other methods I should research please let me know.
What I have in mind so far is this: I'd like to be able to look at the contactgroup and see a list of all it's members rather than trying to decipher which contacts have relationships established elsewhere. Any thoughts or references to documents that could help me better understand would be greatly appreciated.
I have a related question (or an issue) about deleting a contactgroup from the contact. But I'll post that in a different thread.

Re: Contacts and ContactGroups
I personally configure them that way as well, in my mind, it is much easier to look at a "group" and see it's members, than have to look at individual members to see their "groups." I think it's a more natural way of looking at it at least. I posted a reply to your related thread, have a go at it!
