Nagios Support,
Currently we are using NagiosXI at QAPCO for IT infrastructure monitoring,
Below are the details.
Nagios Release : Nagios XI 2012R2.9
Server Name : nagios.qapco.com.qa
Operating System : Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.2
When we licensed nagios , we obtained the activation key for nagios based on the above server/ip address.
As part of the new IT architecture project, we are implementing all new devices in our new data center.
We have decided to follow the naming standards for all our IT systems/devices in the new data center,
Also we have decided to do a fresh installation of nagios and register all the new IT systems in nagios for IT infrastructure monitoring.
With the new naming convention for the servers, nagios server will have a different name than the currently licensed one.
1) We would like to know if nagios is installed on different server, can we use the same activation key(which we have currently) on the new server
or do we need to provide the host details to nagios sales and get a new activation key.
2) During the transition period, we will be running two instances of nagios , with the activation key we have, can we run two instances of nagios (with two different server names)
Please note , the transition period could be more than 60 days, we may not be able to migrate all the devices during the evaluation period(of Nagios)
Please advice us on above two queries.
Best Regards,
Nagios Activation Key
Re: Nagios Activation Key
I see you have an email ticket open for this same issue, so I am going to close this thread and we can address the issue via the ticketing system.
