Service check is pending until nagios service is restarted

Good morning.

NagiosXI version: 2014R2.0 - Just updated
Host: Centos 6.6 - running on the metal.

After updating this started happening.

When the server is rebooted I can click on some services..not all...in XI and get:

"Service check is pending....."

It will continue to do this until I manually restart the nagios service:

service nagios restart

This problem DOES NOT exist in Core. The same services are fine there.

Any input would be appreciated.

Slight correction and a bit more information:

Apparently core does have some effects from the anomaly. I bounced the server this morning and what I described above happened. However, Nagios also couldn't see a couple of remote VMWare hosts I'm monitoring over an ssh tunnel. I could get to the hosts through the tunnel, but Nagios was reporting it couldn't. Once I restarted the nagios service, it was fine.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Tbmay,

I'm having this issue for more then a year. Two remote support sessions, but the issue has not been solved. Last session, Andy told me they were working on a fix where the order of service starts would be optimized.

I fear for now you will just have to live with manually restarting Nagios service after a reboot.

Grtz

Willem

Our suspicion from a few remotes with clients (as we have been unable to reproduce this behavior internally) is that this is due to a race condition between nagios, ndo2db, and mysqld.
