Hi,
We have to monitor 60000+ different kinds of servers with approx. 30 different services on each. Could you please suggest on some of our queries.
a. How many XI servers should we use with what hardware recommendation?
b. What failover solution we should use?
c. What load balancing solution we should use?
d. What distributed monitoring solution we should use?
e. Is there any price concession, if we purchase multiple XI licenses?
f. Is there any way of clone installation of XI from one server to other?
g. Is there any option, so while installation we can put preferred location path and then XI will install on instead of /usr/local
h. Is there any option for un-attendant Nagios client installation?

Re: XI setup recomm..
I don't mean to push you away from the forums, but many of these questions should be directed at [email protected]. Of the ones I can answer, see below.
a. How many XI servers should we use with what hardware recommendation? (please see sales, this is tricky without further details)
b. What failover solution we should use? (Please discuss with sales, this depends on many other factors)
c. What load balancing solution we should use? (Please discuss with sales, this depends on many other factors)
d. What distributed monitoring solution we should use? (Mod_gearman will be the likely choice here, and a good one at that!)
e. Is there any price concession, if we purchase multiple XI licenses? (Please discuss with sales, I cannot answer this one)
f. Is there any way of clone installation of XI from one server to other? (In all technicality, yes, however it is not generally suggested and may cause licensing issues depending on what you are trying to achieve)
g. Is there any option, so while installation we can put preferred location path and then XI will install on instead of /usr/local (Yes, other groups at your company have done so, and there are several ways of doing this.)
h. Is there any option for un-attendant Nagios client installation? (This really depends on how and what you are looking to install on. It is possible in some situations with our installer, it could also be packaged internally by you for more customized deployment)

Nagios-Plugins maintainer exclusively, unless you have other C language bugs with open-source nagios projects, then I am happy to help! Please pm or use other communication to alert me to issues as I no longer track the forum.
