I've found with latest update that if a host is added to a hostgroup via the Host Groups configuration in CCM, it does not display that it is a member of that hostgroup if I pull up the properties of that host in Host Management and then click the Manage Hostgroups button. instead, it shows the target hostgroup greyed out with a mouseover indication "relationship established elsewhere", but assigned is empty.
The reverse is also true where if I assign the hostgroup from the Host Management\Manage Hostgroups section then look at the Host Groups and pull up the properties of the hostgroup i just assigned it to, the host is not listed as a member and it is grayed out with same mouseover.
The configurations have been successfully applied so I'm not sure that this is an expected operation or not and perhaps I misunderstand the host/hostgroup relationships.
Hostgroup Memberships
Re: Hostgroup Memberships
Hey Zovy,
As far as I know, this has always been like that. Imho you better choose one way of assigning host to a hostgroup and try stick with that way in order to avoid confusion.

Re: Hostgroup Memberships
This is expected behavior, though maybe not intuitive. There are a few ways to assign a host to a group, but you can't do them both at once so we gray out the option anywhere else besides where it was set.

Re: Hostgroup Memberships
Cool thanks. I had an old version like pre-2012 that allowed declaration in either or at least it displayed in either. I think we'll assign them at the host level to keep it clean. I should be able to get a report on these from the SQL database if not from somewhere in XI, right?
Re: Hostgroup Memberships
If you go to the Host Groups in CCM and click on the "Relationship Info" icon for a Host Group, it will show you the Dependent Relationship for the Hosts assigned to that Host Group, is that what you are looking for?
