Hostgroup grid not refreshing with check status

Post by tbyrne »

We are attempting to perform systems test on the Nagios XI Monitor setup we did for a client.

We failed several systems, service checks ( pulled drives from a SAN ) and disabled a switch. We received emails showing the failures but the Hostgroup grid screen ( actually all of the host group screens) never updated with the failures. If we refresh the page ( clicking on the hostgroup grid link ) the status will update. Shouldn't the status update on its own every 90 seconds?

I tried opening a second tab for one of the systems ( SAN ) and restored the drive then did a scheduled force immediate check. We went to the first tab with the Hostgroup grid open showing the SAN and all of the active snmp checks, and the screen never changed. We waited for 5 minutes to be sure.

This is a Virtual image version 2014R2.5 downloaded from Nagios running CentOS release 6.6 (Final)
Current configuration is running on a ESXi 5.5 server with 10gb ram and 1 2.5ghz cpu ( we are attempting to use vmware's falut tolerant option which limits us to 1 cpu), We took the system out of Fault Tolerant mode and applied 4 vCpu's and rebooted the system, then ran all of the tests again. It still failed.

I will attach the profile data.

I have performed a test, and experience the same symptoms using the dashboard that you mention. I have found a workaround.

Please navigate to the 'Admin' tab and select 'Performance Settings'. What does your 'Pages' tab look like?

In my test lab, I had checked all three boxes -

Code: Select all

Use Unified Tactical Overview
Use Unified Hostgroup Screens
Use Unified Servicegroup Screens
After unchecking 'Use Unified Hostgroup Screens' my 'Hostgroup Grid' was capable of refreshing properly. I will look deeper into this issue, just wanted to provide the workaround for now.

Update: I have reproduced this issue successfully and documented bug 5144 internally for review. The workaround for now is to disable the settings mentioned as appropriate. Thank you for making us aware of this.

Abrist, jolson,

I made the changes suggested and ran the tests again. We are not getting updates on the screen. The work around fixed the issue. I look forward to the official fix.
