Our helpdesk generates tickets by email address and we only care about critical alerts to both the service and the host.
How do I scale down messages to JUST critical messages (ignoring warnings,flapping,unknown,recovery,acknowledge etc.) to a specific contact?

Hi tonyleatwork,
If that contact has an associated user you can log on with that user, click the username in the upper-right hand corner of the screen, then choose notification preferences on the left to make those adjustments. See the screenshot.
Alternatively a similar configuration can be created and applied to that contact using the Core Configuration Manager.
Let us know if that helps.

This component will only update notification settings for contacts that are created by Nagios XI, or contacts created according to the following documentation: XI Users and Contacts. This page can also be used to modify the default notification settings for all users.
