Hi -

Our helpdesk generates tickets by email address and we only care about critical alerts to both the service and the host.

How do I scale down messages to JUST critical messages (ignoring warnings,flapping,unknown,recovery,acknowledge etc.) to a specific contact?

Hi tonyleatwork,

If that contact has an associated user you can log on with that user, click the username in the upper-right hand corner of the screen, then choose notification preferences on the left to make those adjustments. See the screenshot.

Alternatively a similar configuration can be created and applied to that contact using the Core Configuration Manager.

BTW, the process seems to require me to login as the user. Anyway I can modify users from the admin login?

Yes, though you will need to masquerade as the user (click the eyeball for the user on the Admin --> manage users page).

Also, Notification management might be useful for you.

This page allows for notification messages and settings to be saved and deployed to a selected list of Nagios XI users or contact groups. This component will only update notification settings for contacts that are created by Nagios XI, or contacts created according to the following documentation: XI Users and Contacts. This page can also be used to modify the default notification settings for all users.
