Nagiosxi Client Installation

Post by lmichel »

Couple of Questions
1. I am trying to install the NRPE agent on a RHEL 6.6 server and it is throwing a Permission denied error every time i run the ./fullinstall script. Does anyone know why?
2. I have a bunch of Servers running Solaris 11 X86 I need to monitor, but from the configure wizard option when I clicked on Solaris it only shows Solaris 10. Can Nagios xi monitor Solaris 11 servers?
if yes, how do I go about doing that?

please ignore step 1.

another issue I am now having is that every time I tried to configure a wizard, it takes forever until the process dies.

when I am done creating the wizard, the following follows:
1. Configuration submitted for processing...
2. Waiting for configuration verification --- --> that one never ends. it has been running for over an hour.

the configuration wizard i am trying to create is to monitor Linux servers.

I was more referring to the release version, such as 2014R2.7 which is most likely what you are using if you are in the trial.

Please run the following as root from the command line, and post the output:

Code: Select all

cd /usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts/
./reconfigure_nagios.sh | tail -20

That output you sent looks OK. Out of curiosity, after running that are the Linux servers now being monitored?

Can you make sure your timezone has been selected and applied:

Admin > System Config > Manage System Config
Select the correct UTC timezone and click Update Settings

Does the config wizard work now?

here is what I did:
1. I clicked on configure
2. I selected Linux Server
3. I clicked on Next
4. I typed in the IP of the server I want to monitor and selected RedHat Enterprise as the Linux Distribution

I have been waiting for over two hours for this thing to be completed but it never did.

Let's switch to the nagios user and run this process again.

Code: Select all

su - nagios
cd /usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts/
./reconfigure_nagios.sh | tail -20
