Hi,
I'm setting up Nagios XI (2012R2.9) with hosts and services for workstations and servers and I'm incorporating a group of hosts and services for network devices from another group. The other group did not want to use Nagios XI, they have used Nagios Core in the past. Here are my observations of the network device hosts and services:
1) The network device hosts and services configuration files are in a separate directory. There's one .cfg file for unregistered hosts, one .cfg file for unregistered services, one .cfg file for commands, and one .cfg that contains registered hosts and services, host groups, and service groups.
2) The network device hosts and services show up fine in the Nagios XI GUI.
3) When I try to change anything in one of these network services (e.g. polling interval) through the Nagios XI GUI, I get this: "This service appears to make use of an advanced configuration. Use the Nagios Core Config Manager to modify the settings for this service"
4) When I use Core Configuration Manager (CCM 1.03), I can't see any of the network device hosts and services.
5) I noticed that nagios.cfg does not contain the directory where the network device .cfg files are located. When I add the cfg_dir containing this directory, I get a configuration error when I try to restart the Nagios service.
Due to time and budget, the network group is reluctant to change their configuration. Do you know why I can't see these hosts, services, host groups, or service groups in CCM? Is there anything I can do on the Nagios XI side to make these hosts, services, hosts groups, and service groups visible in the CCM? My highest priority is to associate users that I create in Nagios XI with network device host groups for contact group alerts.
Thanks.
CCM Can't See Hosts Or Services
Re: CCM Can't See Hosts Or Services
You don't see them because they are not in the database. If you are migrating configs from Nagios Core to Nagios XI, you will need to use the XI Config Import Prep Tool and import them properly in XI. Please, review the documents below:Do you know why I can't see these hosts, services, host groups, or service groups in CCM? May I ask, why are you using Nagios XI 2012R2.9? I would recommend using Nagios XI 2014R2.7 instead. There are numerous bug fixes and new features that have been implemented since 2012R2.9.

Re: CCM Can't See Hosts Or Services
When I try to run the xiprepimport.php on one of the files I get:
PHP Notice: Undefined offset: 1 in /usr/local/nagiosxi/tools/xiprepimport.php on line 102
The other files work fine. I tried to import them into Nagios XI but gave me a configuration error trying to reference an image for a host from a relative directory which isn't there because of the files were moved to the etc/cfgprep directory. I can work on that from this end.
I was able to see the hosts in CCM, but the services looked like they were orphaned (no host/Config Name associated with them).
We are using Nagios XI 2012R2.9 since it was the version we verified our requirements against. Upgrading would me re-verification testing which we do not have the time/budget to do right now.
Thanks.

Re: CCM Can't See Hosts Or Services
Are there any blank values for any directives in the problematic config file? If so, this very well may be the cause. Can you post the problematic config?kichi wrote:When I try to run the xiprepimport.php on one of the files I get:
