False Email Notifications

Post by nagmoto »

Today i received tons of email alerts around 6:43 saying the hosts are down but they are not and even when i checked the notifications history from the web interface for those hosts, there is no record of nagios sending a notification. In the nagios log also i didn't find any notifications at that time for those hosts. I am not sure why the nagios has sent these false alarm, can someone let me know is there anyway i can find out what made nagios to send such alerts ?

PS: I didn't received any recovery alert saying host is up thats weird for those hosts.

For starters, what Nagios version are you running? And on what OS+Version?

Please send us your nagios.cfg file.

Please close this thread, found the root cause. Server was cloned by teammate and forgot to stop the nagios service before bringing new server online so it triggered false alarms. Hostname of new server was same as the current master server at different site so i was tricked to believe it was from the original master server.
