I am wondering if Nagios can detect a potential broadcast storm? The broadcast storm is the result of these half duplex zebra printers. When the network gets too chatty, they can no longer print. What I am being asked is if we can watch the subnets these printers are on and alert at a certain threshold when network becomes too chatty. Or does something get reported in syslog that we can use Nagios Log Server to alert on?
Thanks,
Greg

Re: Broadcast Storms and Zebra printers
If it's a Cisco network, IOS can detect network storms and send an SNMP trap.
Nagios itself doesn't have any built in layer 2 network detection stuff, it has to rely on the tools put into the toolbox by your other network devices.
