Nagios to client communication

Nagios management server communicate with windows clients using port 12489. However would like to know the ideal scenario, wether windows client communicates with Nagios management server and if communicates then which port is used for this communication. Thanks.

I suggest you read through this:
http://docs.nsclient.org/manual/installing.html

You should also open port 5666 for NRPE and 5667 for NSCA. Port 12489 is used for check_nt.
