NagiosXI 5 Tour ??

Post by sharding »

Out Upgrade seemed to work fine, when first logged in saw message about a tour, how do you access this after the fact ?

(or if you want to do it later in in another session)

I seem to remember this being stored in a cookie for some reason, but that was during testing. I'm going into a remote in just a few minutes so I can't test, but clearing your XI cookies might re-enable it (and log you out in the process). Let us know, and if it does not work we can maybe have the devs whip something up.

That did not work, but it would not anyway, I first logged in using IE then logged in using Chrome so cookies would not carry from browser to browser

If you create a new user, the tour will run for the new user. The tour settings are tied to the account on the server and not on the browser from what I have been told.

that's all well and good but I need to run it for an existing user i.e. me

creating a new user is not an answer - what would be the point of having such a feature if you cannot invoke it at will

please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this needs to be addressed now, in the grand scheme of things customers seem to have way bigger issues upgrading to v5 and those take priority, I'm saying this needs to be on the radar to address.

Again what's the point of having a feature if you cannot use it. Especially if it speeds up your clients using a new system.

I can put in a feature request so that you don't have to do this some hack-y way such as deleting cookies and deleting entries from the database. Before I put in a feature request, is there anything else you would like to see regarding the tour?

Not that I am aware of, it's just the Tour feature that is not accessible for the new features it covers, it would help bring our team up to speed (which is the reason they put it in I assume)

deleting users (us admins) is not acceptable that would cause way more issues.

Thanks for your help

Feature request 6721 has been submitted. I'll leave the thread open for now if you have more suggestions, otherwise please don't bump the thread (we use a dashboard type system here, and it makes it look like you're still having an issue :| )

Thanks for the input!
