Hi Team,

We have a requirement to install Nagios client on ESXi host. Just want to confirm is it necessary to deploy VMware vSphere Management Assistant (vMA) on ESXi server. With out vMA can we install Nagios client on ESXi host. Please suggest.

Here's some information about monitoring ESXI hosts -
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios-XI.pdf

If you follow those steps it should work fine. Have you seen that document already?

The ESXi servers don't need anything installed on them.

My box293_check_vmware plugin uses a vMA appliance to offload the checks as the VMware SDK is pretty resource intensive.

box293_check_vmware can be downloaded here:
http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Pl ... re/details

There is also a wizard for it:

Thank you Box293. We are able to monitor ESXi hosts using vMA plugin.
