Planning to implement Nagios XI

Device Details :
Link Monitoring (Up/Down only monitor Ping/ICMP) : 420
Host and Service Monitoring (Up/Down): 3780

Poling for Link :
1 min alert on 3 sample

Poling for Host and Service :
1 min alert immediate.

We need help to calculate bandwidth utilization of device monitoring base on polling and hardware requirement.

For clarification, you want to run check_icmp for 420 links, and a combination of 3780 host / service checks another way?

Without knowing how you plan to run the remaining 3780 checks it's hard to estimate bandwidth. What type of checks will these be? Do you plan on using active or passive checks?

This are all active check.

3780 services checks are like check_icmp, any process of host, windows host service, CUP, Memory and Disk check.

In addition we are using remote potion (RDP of host) for resolve the issue process or service down, need to calculate this bandwidth separately.

Total Host for RDP : 1260,
RDP frequency : Approx. 10 in a 1 Hour.
RDP Min time taken : 3 min.
RDP Max time taken : 15 min

Please do not bump your post. If you have additional information to the post, edit your last post and we will see it. Bumping your post will just set the priority to lower on our internal dashboard, as it will only look at the timestamp of your last post, and put you below people that posted before you. Nagios does not use much bandwidth.

Can you please clarify on this point? You're going to RDP to hosts that have issues? That would be something outside of the bandwidth that Nagios is using.

I am not duping the post, tying to understand and calculate polling bandwidth utilization.

Number of Host and Services are more and we want to avoid surprise after implementation.

Need your help for the same.

Expecting approx. bandwidth usage or if you have please share formula to calculate the same.

Based on the type of information you are checking, and the result - this can change. We do not have an estimate available.

You could always setup a test system, and monitor the use based on the type of checks you're performing. From there you should be able to scale the numbers accordingly.
