Does it have to be MySQL?

Post by eloyd »

We're looking at doing some HA/heartbeat stuff where the Nagios XI box(es) store(s) performance data in an external database cluster. Does this cluster have to be MySQL or can MSSQL be used?

I have a vague memory from #NagiosCon2015 that the use of postgres was disappearing at least (yay, if that's true) but can we use a non-MySQL database to store the other stuff?

Also, is it possible to maintain the rrd information (or even /usr/local/nagios and /usr/local/nagiosxi) on a NAS so that the files can be accessed from both hosts?

It needs to be MySQL at this point, there is no MSSQL support.

Technically as long as the locations are mounted and the read/write permissions are proper it shouldn't matter where they are located. That being said, it would be considered an unsupported configuration, but if you want to try it in the name of science, please report your results! :geek:
