Can see the host but can't configure its services

Post by wyoder »

Hi, All:

We have a host named 'exportrh-00'. It's clearly visible in the "Service Status/Service Detail" list and the "Host Status/Host Detail" list. All good.

I am now trying to increase the number of allowed users using the CCM/Services monitoring screen. Although I can see the service lists for its siblings, exportrh-01, exportrh-02, etc., there is no view of the exportrh-00 Config Name or services in the Services screens. Its services should be almost identical to those of its brothers and sisters.

Could you please help me make the exportrh-00 services visible in the CCM?

Thank you!

Are you using templates at all?

Can you PM me over a profile for us to review? We should be able to figure out what's going on.

EDIT: profile received.

I was able to find the file that contained the services, \usr\local\nagios\etc\services\exporth-00.cfg. When you search for 'exportrh-00' in the CCM -> ### Services, are you not seeing anything at all?

We are getting close. Based on your filepath, I took a look in the items in /usr/local/nagios/etc/services/.

The hostname was misspelled! Don't know how it got that way, but it was missing an 'h' as well as its domain name.

So I renamed 'exporth-00.cfg' to 'exportrh-00.clinipace.net.cfg'

After Applying Configuration, I was hoping then to see the exportrh-00 services. Not yet.

Having corrected the hostname in the services subdirectory, are there are other config files I need to update?

Thanks,

All of the modifications that you make in the CLI will be wiped out when you apply configuration with whatever is in the database. That's why you need to make the changes in the CCM, then apply configuration.

Ahh--makes sense; I understand. Accordingly, I searched in the CCM services for the misspelled set of services for this host, deleted them all, deleted the host, and applied the configuration. Then I used the Linux wizard to set up a new monitor for the host with the correct name. All is well. We're back in business.

Thanks for your help. Please close this support request at your convenience.
