Services

Post by MathieuS »

Recently I've had some issues with my services:

-When nagios restarts it says that there are duplicate definitions. When I check this in the .cfg file it isn't true. There are no duplicate definitions
-For some reason when I add a host which I previously added and then deleted it still uses services from the previous configuration.
Example: I only want a ping service for a specific host, but in the past it used to have some VMware services so it puts them in the view. When I check the services in the configuration manager they aren't there. Manually configuring the ping service puts the VMware services in the view as well.

When I check the VMware services and try to delete them in the view it says they don't have an unique ID.

Please help ;)

I decided to do a repair database (before I download a configuration snapshot). This wasn't the best of ideas because after that the host and servicenames weren't there anymore. So I executed the restore_default script. I then imported all my config files and I can see everything in nagios core. But now I can't see anything in nagios xi. It says there are no hosts or services. What can I do? I've attached what I see now in nagios xi

It seems like that you can also see the different hostgroups but no sign of a host or service

Did you run the repair procedure according to our documentation, or did you just run the repairmysql.sh script? Repair runs should only be done when mysql is turned off and nothing is being written to it. Can you try the procedure again and see if it will start running again?

I did this and my hosts and services reappeared. But now I have other problems. For some reason I can't restart the monitoring engine. When I try to do "apply configuration" it hangs. So then I decided to run the reconfigure_nagios script. This restarts nagios but then hangs at "tar: Removing leading '/' from member names /usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts. I really don't see the problem.

Can you run the Write Config Tool and post the output? In Core Config Manager, click on "Write Config Files" under "Tools" from the left panel menu. Click on all four "Go" buttons and post the output.
