How can we monitor ESXi host hardware failures

Post by thrivikramr »

Hi Team,

We are trying to add ESXi hosts to NagiosXI monitoring. Current Vesion that we are using is Nagios XI 2014R1.3 hosted on CentOS 6.5. The default Wizard that we have will not provide much information about hardware failures on ESXi hosts. What is the best way to add them to Nagios monitoring.

Regards,
Thrivikram
Thanks,

The plugin provided by that wizard does not have that level of functionality.

If the server has a management card like the Dell iDRAC, you could use this wizard which queries the iDRAC:

IF the host has modules installed that triggers alarms in vCenter, then the box293_check_vmware plugin can detect these and alert on them. This is the "Host_Status" check in the plugin.

box293_check_vmware can be downloaded here:

There is also a wizard for it:
