I have a NAGIOS server running on CentOS 6.7 that periodically flips states between critical and OK. As an example, you have a check-host-alive defined for the LAN side of a router. Ping to the router appears to time out for the max_check_attempts and the state is changed to CRITICAL. NAGIOS sends an email and/or txt message notifying you of a problem. Immediately following, the state returns to OK and NAGIOS sends another email and/or txt message notifying you. This happens so quickly the emails and txts arrive together.
It doesn't make sense that a CRITICAL would immediately be followed by an OK.
Any thoughts on what might cause this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, as @nozlaf mentioned - please post your related host / service definitions. Also post any templates that are inherited by the service.
