Migrating to Centos from Ubuntu Server

Hi Guys,

I've spent a lot of time configuring Nagios and Graphs on Ubuntu but I want to look at Log Server as well, looking at it I can see that the manual install is set for Centos, so I was considering migrating the whole server to Centos.

Is it difficult to move everything, or is it as simple as compressing the following folders and moving them onto the new machine;

/usr/local/nagios
/usr/local/nagiosgraphs
/etc/apache2/

What are your thoughts? Or is there a way to install Log Server on Ubuntu?

depends on how much you have done in your existing installation but generally just doing a fresh install in centos then copying the config from the old install to the new install will work

Currently Ubuntu is not supported as an OS for NLS. With that said, running Nagios Core and Nagios Log Server on the same server isn't reccomended either.

As for the migration - compile a new system with Core running, and then add in your configuration files. It shouldn't be too painful as long as you have some sort of organization in place for your definitions.
