Notifications not being sent for some hosts

Kind of a weird issue here, not sure how to troubleshoot it. Sometime yesterday evening all (or at least the couple I tried so far) of our windows server hosts stopped sending email alerts. The notification report says the emails are being sent, but none of the contacts for them are receiving the emails. Our Unix hosts are still sending emails and those contacts are receiving them, as are the SNMP network hosts. For some reason it seems to only be the Windows servers. What do?

Having a weird one here as well. Showing notifications being sent in the event log, but no emails being received. Trying to figure out how widespread or if just this one host.

Did some research, the emails that are missing are not being written at all to the maillog. The same host should have sent a ton of service messages at the same time and in the eventlog I can see them. but when I search maillog I only see evidence of one of them.

I assume you guys are both on 5.3.0? If so, when did you upgrade? There was a brief window of time last Monday where there was a tarball with some issues with notifications, but we have since fixed these. A re-run of the upgrade on the fixed tarball might be all you need.

Let us know if that does not fix it.

I am on 5.3.0 and I am 99% sure he is as well(sorry for thread hijacking, but seems similar).

yes, my dev box had the mail issue, but that was ALL not selective. My prod was updated with the new tarball. Some emails just aren't being sent but the event log says they are, just no record of it in maillog, but most emails are being sent I believe. I couldn't begin to know how to investigate this just like the OP.

We need snapon to confirm his, but as I said, but prod is the newest tarball without the bad file.

My upgrade was last thursday, which I assume was the updated tarball. Notifications hae been working ever since, they just stopped today, and only on some hosts.

In XI > Admin > Manage Email Settings > Debug Log, can you check that box and upload or PM the file? If it doesn't show in mail.log then it's not making it to the MTA and obviously will never be delivered.

Server reboot seems to have cleared the issue up for me. Still have no idea what caused it, though.
