Apologies again for the confusion. I believe the forum PM limit has been upped, so PMing profiles in the future should not be a problem. I know you also hit the 2-post limit. It's an unfortunately necessary spam-prevention effort. However, you're past the two-post limit now, so you should be good to go.
One thing I will note is that prospective customers get a free one-hour quickstart. I'd send you a link confidently, but it looks like we/our service provider for that site is getting DDoS at the moment. Google says the link is

If you do decide to go with Nagios, you will get access to our customer forums here. The general forums don't trigger the SLA (although we *largely* treat it like it does). The thing about the general forums is they allow for community input, so sometimes people like to use them instead of the customer forums. The general forums are particularly useful if you are using a third-party tool/plugin we don't directly support.
As for the direct issue at hand, for adding the ping check, I think
https://support.nagios.com/kb/article.php?id=177 should help, since you already have checks for the device. Just for clarity on that note, are you the single administrator for this box? That's the general assumption, but sometimes there are other (or previous) admins which set things up.
For removing the unnecessary checks, you'll want to click Configure at the top of the screen, and then on the CCM logo. Once on the CCM screen, you'll see a Monitoring section in the left-hand panel. Under that, you'll see services and you can delete with the red x toward the right of the screen. You can also add services from this screen, but the KB article to which I linked above has additional information I think you will find useful.
