what is the time zone used when scheduling downtime

Post by caterpillartce »

Hello,

Now that we have hosts all over the world being monitored by Nagios, this suddenly becomes a question. I am thinking it is using the time zone of the Nagios server, instead of the hosts being monitored. But I'd like to confirm.

Thanks!

Yes it is the time of Nagios server. If you have changed the TZ of the server and not restarted the related services eg MySQL there may be some conflict.

There is also an outstanding Feature Request to show and allow for more TZ functionality within Nagios XI.

Thank you for the reply! Now I have another related question. If I want to give a local admin access to be able to schedule downtime for servers he is contact for, what kind of access do I need to give him? Do I just need to make his account a "user" but check "Can (re)configure hosts and services"? My goal is to give him just what he needs and no more.

Thanks!

Please open a new thread or ticket for each individual question.

Here is our document on User Permissions https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... Rights.pdf
You can also test each setting using the Masquerade As link.

Does this answer your question?
