Hello
do you consider creating a dashlet based on OpenStreetMap similar to Google Maps dashlet? Reason behind that is if you want to use Google Maps dashlet, you actually need to pay Google for that. I talked with some Google sale person who made it clear to me, before he had the chance to tell me about pricing, i said ok, we will not use this feature then. But would be nice to have similar free option in Nagios XI.

Re: openstreetmap dashlet
You'd have to add an OpenLayers map to a nagios frontpage, which is fairly simple (lots of examples around (search in the wiki of openstreetmap or google for openlayers)). Then add markers to the map and e.g. use different colors based upon the server state but you somehow need to get the server state information from nagios (that is the part that needs most work I guess).
I don't insult, I diagnose.

I don't know how much you plan on using it, but, "The Google Maps JavaScript API, Google Static Maps API, and Google Street View Image API have a free daily limit of 25,000 map loads per day" (emphasis added) - https://developers.google.com/maps/faqmirgo wrote:you actually need to pay Google for that.
Have you looked at BBmap, Hypermap, Minemap, or Nagvis? Do any of those interest you? We could discuss those in more details.
It doesn't go into much detail, but there's more information on the mapping capabilities at https://assets.nagios.com/handouts/nagi ... ios-XI.pdf
Please let me know if you have any questions or any details to add about what you'd like to see. Thanks!
Re: openstreetmap dashlet
I'm not sure API part is the right thing. I phoned Google sales and explained how we will use it - add it to Nagios (monitoring) tool and use it in 24/7 monitoring centre for visualization.
Would be nice if you could sort this out with Google and see what are the usecases when you need pay for Google if you use their maps in Nagios XI.
Else i think you could close the topic.

I assume Google thinks you are going to surpass the "free daily limit of 25,000 map loads per day." Do you have any idea how many map loads per day you will be doing? I would suggest trying the free API and see if you run into the limit.
You can also install your own components: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios-XI.pdf
Did you try any of the non-Google mapping that is built in?
