Is it possible to monitor the age of a text file once per day?

Example:

I have a text file that gets updated once daily (update time will vary), can we set it so that it will constantly check the age of the file and will trigger an alert only if its older than yesterday?

I can't really use file is older than X # of hours since the file will be updated at different times daily.

I hope this make sense.

Why wouldn't a check for say "if older than 24 hours" work?
