SNMP Host Configuration

Post by oteroj92 »

Hello,

I am having an issue where my host is showing that it is down but the services that are associated to it are working just fine. I'm not too sure what is going on here, most of the devices we had setup for SNMP monitoring are just fine except for this one site. I attached some pictures so that you will see what I mean. Any suggestions on how to address this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Most of the default host checks are using the check_ping plugin to ping the host to see if responds and gives an OK status if it does.
If the host you are checking doesn't respond to ICMP packets of that a firewall if blocking it, that would cause the issue you are having.
Check the host or any of the equipment between the Nagios server and the host to see if they are blocking ICMP (Ping) checks.
